FAREWELL TO OLD WATER PIPES IN DUDLEY (Press Release)
South Staffordshire Water PLC is investing over £1.5 million to improve the quality of tap water in Dudley by replacing 12km of water mains over the next 12 months.
Over 2,400 properties will directly benefit from this major investment scheme.
Kevin Watkins, South Staffordshire Water’s Contracts Services Manager explained, “This investment will help to improve the reliability and overall quality of tap water supplied to our customers. By replacing these old assets we should reduce the risk of bursts and leaks in the area, which benefits everyone”.
All efforts will be made to minimise disruption but during the works some customers may experience a loss of water for short durations to homes and businesses. All customers affected will be given advance notice. South Staffs Water is working with local residents and businesses to alert them of the plans and will agree all traffic control plans with the highway authority.
Kevin Watkins added “We are confident that the long term benefits of this investment will outweigh any short term inconvenience, which will be kept to the absolute minimum. Our customers tell us it is very important that they have a reliable water supply and this is what we intend to provide by making this substantial investment in the Halseowen area”.
The scheme is part of a £35 million investment in replacement of water pipes over a 5-year period in South Staffordshire Water’s area of supply. During the next 5 years the Company plans to replace over 350 km of mains.
