Big hearted staff have raised more than £21,000 to support WaterAid – the charity that aims to change the lives of people living in the world's poorest countries.
The charity provides clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene education to 27 countries as well as aiming to influence national and international policies on the subject.
South Staffs Water staff support the charity each year with a number of fundraising events, as well as a monthly lottery that is open to everyone working in the South Staffordshire plc group.
Biggest fundraisers of the year included a casino night, which raised more than £8,000, the lottery which raised more than £7,000 and the Corbett Challenge, in which an intrepid group of SSW workers tackled one of the Corbetts (a mountain between 2,500 and 3,000 ft high) in Snowdonia raising more than £2,750. Not content with one mountain, they then went on to climb two more the same day!
Donations made by SSW customers also account for around £1,000 of the total.
