Managing Director of
South Staffordshire Water Plc
Appointed to the Board in April 2002 and appointed as Managing Director of South Staffordshire Water in January 2004, following four years as Deputy Managing Director. He has 32 years experience in the water industry with South Staffordshire Water, and is the National President of the Institution of Water Officers. Jack is also Chairman of USIT, the Water Industry Charity for Training.
Rachel Barber, MBA, Age 38
Director of Customer Services
Rachel has over 18 years Water Industry experience, joining the Company in 1990. She was appointed Director of Customer Services three years ago and is responsible for new supplies, billing, meter reading, customer contact, planning and customer liaison. She is Secretary of the South Staffordshire Water Charitable Trust and Customer Consultative Committee and is the main point of contact with the Consumer Council for Water who represent water and sewerage customers in England and Wales.
Matthew Lewis, BA (Hons); MBA, Age 36
Director of Regulation and Distribution
Joined the Company in 1997. Previous role was Director of Regulation and Planning, previous employer: British Chambers of Commerce (BCC). Responsible for the regulatory interface with Ofwat and for co-ordination of regulatory submissions including the annual return and the strategic business plan. Responsible for operation of the distribution network: repairs, maintenance, main-laying, mains replacement, contractor liaison.
Keith H Marshall, MBA, Age 54
Water Supply & Resources Director
Keith has over 34 years experience in the water industry with South Staffordshire Water. He was appointed Director of Supply & Resources in 2002 and his experience is predominantly in the field of production, ICA and energy management.
Philip Saynor, BSc (Hons) ACMA, Age 36
Director of Finance
Appointed as Financial Controller in June 2002 and appointed as Director of Finance in May 2004. Prior to joining South Staffordshire Water he spent 8 years with Marconi based in Coventry. He is a Mathematics graduate of Loughborough University and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Elizabeth (Liz) Anne Swarbrick, PhD, BSc(Hons), Age 45
Asset Management Director
Appointed to the Water Plc Board in July 1997 and has previously held the position of Quality and Planning Director and Regulation and Asset Management Director. She is responsible for underground and overground asset management, capital investment management and delivery, procurement and asset information systems. She is a chemist by profession and has over 19 years experience in the water industry. Liz has represented the Company and the industry in a number of strategic Water UK groups with the Regulators, some of which she has chaired.
Michael Turrell, PhD, BSc (Hons), CChem FRSC. Age 49
Director of Water Quality
Mike has over 22 years experience of the Water Industry. In 1980 he joined the Water Research Centre before moving to Anglian Water to complete his doctoral research into discoloured water supplies. He joined South Staffordshire Water in 1989 and was appointed Director of Water Quality two years ago. Mike also has responsibility for Health and Safety and for Emergency Planning.
