Developers Notice Board - New Supply Application Forms.
Application for Standard 25mm New Water Connections
The Company's standard for all household premises, in normal ground conditions is a 25mm MDPE connection provided at the boundary of the public highway. In contaminated ground conditions an equivalent 27mm Barrier pipe connection is provided. This standard is generally applied across the water industry and is determined to be adequate for domestic purposes.
Where the property is situated some distance from the boundary you may wish to lay a larger supply pipe on the premises to allow for frictional resistance on flow (headloss) over the distance. If you do elect to lay a larger private supply pipe you will need to provide a reducing fitting (compatible with the pipe being laid) to enable us to connect our 25mm pipe. If the pipework is barrier pipe, a female iron connector must be provided.
Where you are installing water fittings which require higher than normal levels of flow/pressure you should consider the need for provision of cold water storage and boosters to meet your requirements.
The water industry reference standard is to provide minimum water pressure of 10 metres head (1Bar) at pavement level with a flow rate of 9 litres per minute, which should be sufficient to supply a water storage cistern in a standard 2 storey house built at pavement level. For properties over two storey's, the architect/designer must design the plumbing installation suitable for the minimum water pressure.
Application for Non-Standard New Water Connections of 32mm or above
Where you require water for non-household use and/or with a supply size greater than 25 (27) mm in diameter this is classified as a non-standard connection. For this type of connection we require more detailed information from you as the potential impact of your connection on our distribution system needs to be fully assessed.
This form should also be used for applications requiring additional main laying.
Application for 25mm separation of existing shared supply or replacement water connection
Many older properties are supplied with water from a shared service pipe that may supply one or more other properties. At peak times this can result in a reduction of flow / pressure when all properties are drawing water simultaneously. By separating the supply ( laying a new individual pipe to your property) you can significantly improve the available flow / pressure to your property.
Replacement supplies are often requested when a customer has had problems with a leak or leaks on their property or just wishes to replace their old pipe with a new plastic supply. Where a replacement supply is required, the new pipe should be laid to the same point as the existing stop tap in the footpath. This is so that we can cut-off the old pipe at the same time as we lay the new pipe.
