Publication of our Final water resources management plan
Our Final Water Resources Management Plan (FWRMP) shows how we intend to maintain the balance between available water supply and demand for it over the next 25 years.
Following the Water Act 2003, water company water resources management plans are now statutory documents, which are submitted to the Secretary of State (DEFRA), and are made available for public consultation. These plans are prepared every five years.
Following the publication of our Draft Water Resources Management Plan on May 5th 2008, and a period of public consultation, we published a Statement of Response to the consultation responses on February 2nd 2009. DEFRA has considered our Statement of Response and has now given approval for the publication of our Final Water Resources Management Plan. This plan was published on our website on 21st August 2009. Four PDF files are available for download on the right hand side of this page.
We do not forecast a supply-demand deficit within the 25-year planning horizon, therefore resource development, or demand management measures, are not required to meet a supply shortfall. However, we will continue to review this plan over subsequent years to ensure that we take account of new information.
We do not consider that there are any parts of the plan that are commercially confidential for us or for any third party, and the entire plan is published. Furthermore, no information has been excluded on the grounds that it would be contrary to the interests of national security.
If you wish to receive a paper copy of the plan then this can be obtained by writing to Peter Greenaway (Water Resources Manager) at the following address:
