Our Draft Water Resources Management Plan
Public Consultation on the Draft Water Resources Plan
South Staffordshire Water’s Draft Water Resources Management Plan (DWRMP) shows how we intend to maintain the balance between available water supply and the demand for water over the next 25 years.
Following the Water Act 2003 water company water resources management plans are now statutory documents, which are submitted to the Secretary of State (DEFRA), and are made available for public consultation. These plans are prepared every 5 years.
The Secretary of State (DEFRA) has not directed that any material be removed from the public version of our DWRMP. As a result, the DWRMP has been published in its entirety, and there are no exclusions on the grounds of national security or commercial confidentiality.
The Company’s Draft Water Resources Management Plan is attached, along with a number of technical appendices, and a non technical summary of the plan. The consultation period begins on the 5th May 2008 and ends on Monday 25th August. During this time representations should be sent to: -
Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs
Water Supply and Regulation Division
Area 2C
Ergon House
Horseferry Road
London
SW1P 2AL
Or by E-mail to water.resources@defra.gsi.gov.uk
Within 11 weeks of the end of the consultation period (by the 10th November 2008) the Company will publish a statement of response to any representations. The Company will inform anyone who has made representations when this statement of response has been published. The Final Water Resources Management Plan will then be published in the Summer of 2009
Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Draft Water Resources Plan
South Staffordshire Water has also undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the options identified within the sensitivity analysis section of the DWRMP.
The SEA environmental report is summarised within the full Draft Water Resources Plan document, and the full SEA has also been attached. Comments on the SEA should also be sent to DEFRA at the above address (or email), by 25th August 2008.
The DWRMP has been published on this website, however we would also be happy to provide an electronic or a paper copy directly if required. Please contact Matt Hudson (Water Resources Manager) on 01922 638282 or via email at matthewhudson@south-staffs-water.co.uk for further details.
