Local food banks receive donations from company fundraiser
Almost £3,000 has been raised by employees to support local food banks. This winter, it is expected that someone in the UK will need an emergency food parcel from a food bank every nine seconds - a 61% increase on last year.
Our employees have taken part in a fundraiser to support local food banks, which have been affected by the ongoing pandemic. In a year where local lockdowns and national restrictions have dominated the headlines, food banks have seen a reduction in vital donations, while the use of them is expected to soar over the winter months.
In order to combat the crisis, a JustGiving page was set up with one goal in mind: 'Making a difference for food banks'. We wanted to raise money for local food banks and The Trussell Trust to help with the emergency food parcels they provide, so we set up a fundraising page to enable us all to give what we can to this vital cause; every penny counts.
Together with employees from our parent Group, South Staffordshire Plc, we have raised £2,890 in donations. This has been doubled by South Staffordshire Plc, bringing the overall donation to a total of £9,000.

Local food banks within our region of supply that have been supported by the fundraiser include: Breaking Bread, Wednesbury; Victory Church, Rugeley; Salvation Army, Burton upon Trent; Chase Lighthouse, Cannock and Salma Foodbank, Smethwick.
