South Staffs Water ahead on Ofwat targets

13 July 2012
Performance results just published by South Staffs Water show we are ahead of targets set by our regulator, Ofwat.

The new Key Performance Indicators set by Ofwat replace the former “June Return” system. As a water only company, there are 12 KPIs that we are obliged to publish, however, we have added a further four that we know our customers believe are relevant and important. These are: Water quality performance, number of mains bursts, customer satisfaction levels and water efficiency savings.

The figures just published show performance during the 2011-12 financial year, but to give a better indication of how we are faring, we have also published the data for the previous three financial years.

The Ofwat set KPIs show that we are ahead of targets on leakage, water resources, supply interruptions, customer service levels, supply interruptions and environmental impact and that we have improved on previous years’ figures.

Additional information published by us shows that water quality performance for 2011-12 stands at 99.971% compliance, the number of mains bursts has fallen over the four year period and water efficiency savings have increased. Since the method of measuring customer satisfaction levels was changed by Ofwat last year, levels have also improved.

Finance and Regulation Director for South Staffs Water, Matt Lewis, commented: “These are very pleasing figures and show that we’re heading in the right direction. However, we won’t be resting on our laurels and will continue to work towards improving our service to our customers in the months and years ahead.”
