South Staffs Water has partnered with Tipton and West Bromwich’s Jobcentre Plus and will be holding its first Jobs Fair in its new community hub in Wednesbury on Friday 11 May.  Businesses will be attending from a range of sectors including care, security, engineering and retail, and there will be a wide variety of career and apprenticeship opportunities available. 

Job seekers are invited to call into the hub on Union Street between 10:00 – 13:00 to meet prospective employers and find out more about their options.  South Staffs Water is excited about the prospect of hosting the Jobs Fair and providing local people with easy access to local jobs. 

The hub currently provides a jobs board and free internet access for would-be job seekers. It also allows South Staff Water’s customer service team and other experts to talk directly to customers, making sure all customers are supported and get extra help when they need it.

Phil Newland, managing director at South Staffs Water explains: “The hub has been opened to enable us to build stronger relationships within our local community.  Hosting the Jobs Fair and providing our customers with the means to access information on available jobs is just part of this.  Among the businesses attending the Fair we are pleased to have a number of apprenticeship providers too.” 

He continued: “There is a misconception that apprenticeships are only an option for the young.  However, they are actually a useful way of improving skills and training, to anyone over the age 16, who is eligible to work in the UK and not enrolled in full-time education. South Staffs Water offers its own apprenticeship scheme and anyone keen to apply can register at WaterHR@south-staffs-water.co.uk“

Pauline Jones, from Jobcentre Plus added: “As it is right in the town centre, the community hub is a great location for the Jobs Fair.  We are delighted to be working with South Staffs Water on this event and are looking forward to reaching lots of people in the Wednesbury area."

The hub is located at Unit 17 Union Street, Wednesbury, WS10 7HD and its opening hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10.00 - 16.00 and 09.00 - 12.00 on Saturdays.
