Regulation 5 of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 identifies the main areas of installation/alteration which water suppliers need to be aware of in advance.

You will need to notify us in writing and, for certain types of installation, also provide a plan and a diagram of the pipework. 

After you notify us

Once you have notified us of an installation our water inspectors may check the plumbing systems, processes and equipment used.

They assess risk by identifying contraventions of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999;

advise if remedial action is required, and the time scales in which the work must be carried out. Once remedial work has been completed we carry out a re-inspection to ensure compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.

Contraventions

Please do not start work without notifying us. Consent must be given before work can go ahead. Anyone who does carry out this work without seeking notification and consent could face prosecution.
