Essential water mains upgrade in Bridgtown

South Staffs Water has started essential work in New Street Bridgtown. The project, part of the water company’s on-going improvement programme, starts on Monday 8 October and is due for completion in April 2019.

With the ultimate aim of improved water quality and reliable water supply to its customers, South Staffs Water has developed a schedule of work to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and visitors to the area during the work.  This includes a shutdown on the lead up to Christmas to avoid impacting on the high street.

The project will require temporary road closures to ensure the safety of the workforce and public, and these will affect numerous key roads in and around Cannock including New Street, Church Street, North Street, Longford Road, East Street, Park Street, Union Street, Bridge Street, Cross Street and Broad Street. Diversions routes will be in place at all times and access will be maintained for residents and businesses.

Phil Newland, Managing Director at South Staffs Water explains: “This project represents a significant investment into the water quality in the area.  We are sorry for any inconvenience our work will cause and we will try and minimise the impact as much as possible.  With the busy Christmas shopping period coming up, we have agreed to stop work from 24 December – 04 January, to reduce the impact on the high street.”

At no time will South Staffs Water request access to a customers’ property unless a visit has been pre-arranged.  If you require any further information or assistance during the work, please contact the site team on 0800 3891011 or visit the South Staffs Water website to find out more about the diversions at www.south-staffs-water.co.uk
