Why should I switch to a meter?
Having a meter will make you more aware of how much water you use. You may be able to save money on your bill if you use less water and using water wisely can also help reduce your gas or electricity bills because heating water uses a lot of energy.
Water meters are an important way customers can help us manage our water resources so we actively encourage them to consider whether switching is right for them and in most cases, will fit the meter for free within 90 days.
If you do switch and find your charges are higher, you have 2 years to change back to rateable value. We won’t base your bills on the meter anymore but it will remain in place on your property.
As a very general ‘rule of thumb’ if there are more bedrooms in your home than occupants, it’s worth checking if you might benefit from switching to a water meter. Smaller families and single professionals who spend most of the day at the office often find they are better off on a water meter.
