Improvements in Gentleshaw and Rawnsley

undefinedWork is starting on an essential project in Gentleshaw and Rawnsley

The 10-month scheme will see the renewal of existing water mains between Rugeley and Cannock, with over 6,000 metres of new, high-performance water pipe.

Where and when?

The works will begin in Chestall Road on 11 July 2022, before progressing onto the following locations:

  • Buds Road - complete
  • Warren Close - complete
  • Goodwood Road - complete
  • Eastgate - complete
  • Glovers Close - complete
  • Kempton Close - complete
  • Sycamore Hill - almost complete
  • Cumberledge Hill - almost complete

  • St Michaels Drive - due to start in 2023
We will be working between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm, but these hours may be extended if required.

How will the work be carried out?

In total, 6,053m of new, high-performance water mains will be installed using a number of methods, including directional drill (where the new main will be installed underground, between two excavations, using a drilling machine), slipline (where we pull a new main through the existing one) and open cut (where we dig a trench).

Will traffic be affected?

In order to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible, traffic management will be in place. Two-way, three-way or four-way traffic lights will be used throughout the scheme, according to the location that we will be working. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.

Will this affect my water supply?

We may need to turn off your water supply for a short period of time. If we do need to shut off your supply, we will provide as much notice as possible.

These works will improve the quality and reliability of your water supply. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

Our investment programme

This scheme is part of our commitment to invest in new water mains, to reduce leakage by at least 15% and to ensure our customers continue to receive a reliable and high-quality water supply.
